IAA India Day 2026: Focus on German-Indian Economic Relations

The 16th IAA India Day 2026 was dedicated to economic and industrial cooperation between Germany, Europe, and India. Representatives from politics, business, and industry discussed current market developments, international trade relations, technological changes, and the prospects for a closer economic partnership.

The EU-India Free Trade Agreement played a central role in this regard; the conclusion of negotiations on this agreement is providing new momentum for trade, investment, and industrial cooperation between the two economic regions.

At the invitation of the VDA, Christian Reitmeyer, a partner at the redi-Group, attended the event. As an entrepreneur with many years of international industry experience, he contributed his perspective on the opportunities and challenges of globally interconnected value chains to the discussion.

India as a Key Partner in the Global Automotive Industry

India is one of the most important and dynamic automotive markets in the world. In 2025, approximately 357,800 new commercial vehicles weighing over six metric tons were registered. In the first half of 2026, new registrations of heavy commercial vehicles rose by just under 24 percent.

This development highlights India’s growing economic importance and underscores the potential for even closer cooperation with the European automotive and commercial vehicle industries.

At the same time, the demands placed on industrial companies operating internationally are changing. New production sites, more complex supplier structures, technological advancements, and varying regulatory frameworks call for long-term strategies and close international collaboration.

IAA India Day provided an opportunity to examine these developments from various perspectives and discuss shared opportunities for the future.

International Quality Assurance in Business Dialogue

For Christian Reitmeyer, the focus was particularly on discussing the practical implementation of international industrial collaborations.

In addition to the economic potential of new markets, the operational challenges posed by global production and supply networks also play an important role. The stability of international supply chains, reliable quality standards, and the ability to respond flexibly to changes in various markets are crucial factors for the industry’s competitiveness.

Drawing on the redi-Group’s experience in international quality assurance and supply chain security, Christian Reitmeyer was able to bring these aspects into the discussion from a business perspective.

It became clear that the further development of German-Indian economic relations not only opens up new market opportunities but also presents companies with the challenge of structuring their international operations in a sustainable and resilient manner.

The redi-Group has had an international presence for many years and boasts a global footprint. In India, too, the group has been active for years in the key automotive and industrial hub of Pune for many years.

This international experience enables the corporate group not only to view industrial developments from a European perspective, but also to incorporate the requirements of various markets into its business decisions.

Global Cooperation as the Foundation for the Future

The 16th IAA India Day once again underscored how important ongoing dialogue between international economic regions is for the future of the automotive industry.

For the redi-Group, events such as IAA India Day are a valuable opportunity to assess economic developments, strengthen existing international relationships, and bring together diverse business perspectives.

Christian Reitmeyer’s participation, at the invitation of the VDA, underscores the redi-Group’s commitment to contributing to the dialogue on the future of global industrial value creation—not only as an international industrial service provider but also as an experienced business partner.

We would like to thank the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) for the invitation and for the open, constructive dialogue during the 16th IAA India Day 2026.
