Quality inspection of bulletproof vests at an OEM
OUR SERVICES
- •Visual quality inspection and final inspection of ballistic vests
- •Systematic documentation of identified defects
- •Evaluation of deviations according to defined testing specifications
- •Operational quality assurance directly at the OEM
THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
Three qualified inspection staff members assisted with final inspections in the mass production process over an 18-month period. They were deployed under a temporary staffing arrangement (ANÜ) and were directly integrated into the OEM’s operations.
THE CHALLENGE
The quality requirements for ballistic vests had to be consistently met throughout the ongoing mass production process. This required a reliable visual final inspection and a consistent approach to addressing any defects that were identified.
The OEM's challenge was to identify quality deviations before shipment and evaluate them according to uniform standards. At the same time, the ongoing inspection task had to be managed without placing a permanent additional burden on internal resources.
OUR SOLUTION
The redi-Group integrated a team of three qualified inspectors directly at the OEM's facility. The team performed the final visual inspection of the protective vests in accordance with the specified inspection guidelines.
Identified defects were systematically recorded, and deviations were evaluated based on the specified criteria. This provided the OEM with a transparent basis for further handling of defective products.
The ongoing support over an 18-month period stabilized operational quality assurance in the mass production process and reduced the workload on the internal team with regard to daily inspection tasks.
The result
Consistent Quality Level: Continuous support for final inspection over an 18-month period.
Reduced Number of Defective Units Shipped: Defective products were identified during the visual final inspection, and nonconformities were evaluated in accordance with specifications.
Relief for Internal Resources: Three qualified inspectors handled ongoing inspection tasks directly at the OEM’s facility.
