The redi-Group is expanding its activities in the defense industry. What began as a series of individual projects has increasingly evolved into a distinct business segment in recent years.
Today, the redi-Group works in this field with, among others, government clients, established defense manufacturers, manufacturers of unmanned systems, and companies in the personal protective equipment sector. As a result, the company is increasingly expanding its traditionally strong industrial business to include collaborations with public-sector clients and companies in security-related industries.
Defense Industry: Expanding Production Capacity and Quality Standards
The overall conditions for the German and European defense industries have changed significantly in just a few years. In light of geopolitical developments, Germany and its European partners are investing heavily in expanding their defense capabilities.
However, additional funding alone is not enough. The real challenge begins when rising order volumes must be translated into additional industrial capacity.
Production capacity must increase, supply chains must become more stable, and quality control systems must keep pace with the accelerating growth. At the same time, many areas lack additional testing and inspection capacity. Compounding these challenges are complex supplier networks and processes that are not yet fully geared toward today’s growth.
“Investing billions is the relatively easy part. The key question is how to translate these investments into robust industrial capabilities,”, says Onur Kayhan, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at redi-Group GmbH. “Anyone who wants to significantly increase production volume must also ensure that suppliers, processes, and quality keep pace with that growth.”
Quality Assurance and Supplier Management in the Defense Sector
This is precisely where the redi-Group sees the connection to its existing business. The company is increasingly applying its many years of experience in quality assurance, supplier management, and process optimization to the defense industry.
However, the defense sector differs from many traditional industrial markets in key ways. Long development and procurement cycles, high standards for quality and documentation, and the special responsibility associated with security-related products require a long-term commitment.
For the redi-Group, therefore, it is not a matter of capitalizing on a currently growing market in the short term. “Anyone who views the defense sector solely as an opportunity for rapid growth will struggle in the long run,”, explains Onur Kayhan. “You have to understand what customers actually need, what challenges they face in their supply chains and processes, and where you can make a concrete contribution. Our goal is to establish ourselves precisely in this way as a reliable partner.”
DWT Membership Strengthens Collaboration in the Defense Industry
For the redi-Group, the development of its defense business is therefore a long-term endeavor. The company aims to build on its existing experience, develop new partnerships, and strengthen its position within the industry.
Another key component of this development is membership in the German Society for Defense Technology (DWT). This membership enables the redi-Group to engage in a more intensive exchange with companies, government agencies, and representatives from the military sector.
The focus is on topics that the company believes will be crucial for the future development of the European defense industry: stable supply chains, reliable quality, robust processes, and the ability to scale industrial capacity in a sustainable manner.
“In recent years, we’ve seen that our experience and expertise are also in demand in the defense industry,”, says Onur Kayhan.
Developing Long-Term Partnerships in the Defense Industry
As investment increases, so does economic interest in the defense industry. However, the key factor will be which companies are able to adapt to the specific requirements of this market over the long term.
For the redi-Group, therefore, the focus is not on the amount of the announced investments, but rather on the question of what concrete contribution the company can make to its customers’ performance.
“In the end, it’s not about who first recognizes a growing market. What matters is who understands their customers’ challenges and offers sustainable, reliable solutions for them,”, says Onur Kayhan.
For the redi-Group, the defense sector is therefore more than just an additional market. It is a business segment that the company intends to develop in a targeted and sustainable manner in the coming years.
